Temporary Child Support

In Florida divorce proceedings Florida law allows for the request and award of temporary and short term child support  as well as possession of the marital home or other relief in the nature of support, if appropriate.

Often times divorces can take years to resolve and one party needs support during the pendency of the divorce proceedings.  When a need is recognized, whether it be in the form of financial support, child support, exclusive use of the marital home or some other necessity, a dependent spouse may request the court for a temporary support award of payments or the exclusive use of the marital home during the pendency of the divorce.  Should the court order temporary support, the award will ultimately be replaced by a final order at the end of a divorce proceeding and there is no guarantee that the final award will be consistent with the temporary child support order.
